Big Lift Hire respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our website, send us a Quote request or enquiry, or contact us about one.
Big Lift Hire is a LiftQuip Australia company, operated by LiftQuip Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 58 623 149 226). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean that entity. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
When you send a Quote request or enquiry, we collect:
- your name, email address and phone number
- your company name, if you give it
- your hire dates, delivery or collection preference, and site location, if you give them
- the equipment and quantities on your Quote list
- anything you write in the message or "About the lift" fields
- whether you've chosen to receive marketing emails from us
Please don't include sensitive information, such as health details, or other people's personal details in these fields unless they're needed for your enquiry.
When you visit our website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We also use your IP address briefly to limit repeated form submissions and protect against spam. We don't use this information to identify you.
You can browse the website without giving us your name. We need your contact details to respond to a Quote request or enquiry.
How we use it and who we share it with
We use your information to:
- respond to your Quote request or enquiry and send you a confirmation
- check availability, prepare a Quote and arrange your hire
- keep records of our dealings with you
- send you occasional updates on our equipment and offers, but only if you tick the box to receive them
- run, protect and improve our website
- meet our legal obligations
We don't sell your personal information. We only send marketing emails if you've opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by contacting us.
We only share your information where needed for these purposes, with:
- LiftQuip Australia, our parent company
- Vercel, which hosts our website
- Supabase, which stores enquiries in a database
- Resend, which delivers our emails
- delivery or transport providers, if your hire needs them
- regulators or others where the law requires it
Overseas storage, security and how long we keep it
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Japan. Enquiries are stored in Sydney, Australia. We use reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.
We protect your information with encrypted connections, access limited to those who need it, and spam protection on our forms. No online service is completely secure, so please contact us straight away if you think your information has been misused.
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for these purposes or as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Cookies and your Quote list
Our website doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. Your Quote list is saved in your own browser, using local storage, so it carries between pages and visits. It stays on your device until you send it to us with a Quote request. You can remove it by clearing your Quote list or your browser's site data.
Our website links to other sites, including LiftQuip Australia's. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn't cover them.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. We'll respond within a reasonable time. If we can't give you what you ask for, we'll explain why.
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us first and we'll work with you to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
